Cesc Fabregas: Barcelona boss says "midfielder wants to stay"
Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas does not want to leave the club this summer to return to the Premier League, says manager Tito Vilanova.
Manchester United lodged a £25m bid for the 26-year-old former Arsenal captain on Monday but, according to the Barca boss, the player wants to stay for now.
"It is a good sign that the club gets offers for our players... but Fabregas wants to stay"-Tito Vilanova
"I know he has received offers from other teams," said Vilanova.
"But Cesc has told me he wants to stay here. He has told me it is his dream to stay with Barcelona."
Vilanova added: "He doesn't want to go to other teams for money reasons or playing time. He knows there is competition for places here, but his decision is to stay. I am relaxed about the situation."
United have yet to receive a formal response to their offer, which is understood to be some way below Barcelona's valuation.
"It is a good sign that the club gets offers for our players," continued Vilanova. "It shows we have players other teams want. But Fabregas wants to stay."

Fabregas, a Spain international who helped his country win the World Cup and become European champions twice, came through Barcelona's academy before Arsenal signed him as a 16-year-old in 2003.
He developed into one of the London club's key players under manager Arsene Wenger before becoming Arsenal captain in November 2008.
He spent eight years with the Gunners, playing 303 games and scoring 57 goals, but returned to the Nou Camp when he signed a five-year deal with Barcelona in a £25.4m move in August 2011.
He has since helped the Catalan club win the Copa del Rey in 2011-12 and La Liga in 2012-13.
Fabregas has played 96 times in two seasons with Barcelona, including 60 league games, but has rarely featuredin his preferred midfield role, with Xavi, 33, and Andres Iniesta, 29, ahead of him.
Sunderland sign Italian international midfielder Emanuele Giaccherini
Italy midfielder Emanuele Giaccherini became Sunderland’s ninth signing of the close season when the Premier League club agreed a reported 8.5-million-pound ($12.84-million) deal with Serie A champions Juventus Today.
The fee and personal terms were settled last week but the deal was not finalised until after Giaccherini’s wife gave birth to daughter Caterina.
Sunderland said on their website ( www.safc.com) that he had signed a four-year deal at the Stadium of Light.
The 28-year-old, who has played 14 times for Italy, can be deployed as either an attacking midfielder or a left-winger and is the latest addition to a rapidly changing squad being assembled by new coach, Italian Paolo Di Canio.
Giaccherini began his career with Cesena and had loan spells with Forli, Bellaria Igea and Pavia.
He moved to Juventus in August 2011 and made 40 league appearances for the club, scoring four goals before making the move to Wearside.
He is the most expensive Sunderland acquisition so far this summer and follows the arrivals of Valentin Roberge, Modibo Diakite, Cabral, Jozy Altidore, Vito Mannone, David Moberg Karlsson, El-Hadji Ba and Duncan Watmore.
Sunderland are also reported to be close to signing Greek winger Charas Mavrias and Argentinian right-back Gino Peruzzi this week.
PSG sign Uruguay striker Edinson Cavani
Paris St Germain signed last season’s Serie A top scorer Edinson Cavani from Napoli on a five-year contract, the French Ligue 1 champions said Today.
“The transfer of Edinson Cavani is further proof of the club’s ability to attract the best players in the world,” club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi said on the club website ( www.psg.fr).
“The player was seduced by the club’s sporting project and is delighted to be joining an ambitious side, impatient to take on new challenges.”
Cavani is the latest big catch for PSG, who have spent more than 200 million euros (173.81 million pounds) in transfers over the past two years to secure the services of players such as Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva.
PSG did not disclose the fee which media reported to be a French record 64 million euros.
The 26-year-old Cavani has scored 78 league goals in three seasons with Napoli, whom he joined from Palermo.
“It is among the best clubs in the world and can challenge for the Champions League,” Cavani told reporters.
The Uruguay international, who has 54 caps, could form one of the most formidable attacking pairs in Europe with Ibrahimovic.
The Swede led PSGto their first Ligue 1 title since 1994 last season by netting 30 goals, the first top-flight player to reach the mark in 20 years.
“Ibra is world class. It is a pleasure to play alongside him to try to win titles,” Cavani said.
Europa League win is a ‘big disappointment’, says Mourinho
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho said it would be a big disappointment if he won the Europa League, months after his predecessor Rafa Benitez guided the club to the title.
Chelsea were knocked out of the Champions League at the group stagelast season, causing them to drop intothe continent’s second tier competition which they won by beating Benfica in May.
“I don’t want to win the Europa League,” Mourinho told BBC Today.
“If I win the Europa League it will be a big disappointment for me because I don’t want to play in it.
“I don’t want my players to feel the Europa League is our competition.”
Mourinho, who won the Europa League’s predecessor, the UEFA Cup, when he was in charge of Porto in 2003, said the Champions League was a priority.
“That’s the only European competition we have to play and that’s the European competition we have to give our best,” he added.
The comments could be interpreted as a veiled dig at former manager Benitez, who was in interim charge from November and won the Europa League as well as leading the club to third place in the Premier League.
Former Liverpool manager Benitez was never a popular figure in his short time at Stamford Bridge, partly because of his rivalry with Mourinho during the Portuguese’s first spell at Chelsea.
Benitez’s Liverpool won the Champions League in 2005 and reached the final in 2007, beating Mourinho’s Chelsea in the semi-final on both occasions.
Mourinho, who did win the Champions League with Porto in 2004 and again with Inter Milan in 2010, said he is targeting more Premier League success after winning two league titles in his first spell at Chelsea.
“The most important thing in football is to be the best team in the season and try to win your domestic league,” he said.
“In our case, it’s the most important league in Europe, so we have to try and be the best team and win the Premier League.”
Mourinho, who left Real Madrid at the end of last season, said he will do what he can to get the best out of Fernando Torres, who has struggled to find his form since joining for 50 million pounds ($75.52 million) in 2011.
“Good players in big clubs, they are always under this pressure,” said Mourinho.
“The only thing I can promise is that I give everything to my players and I try my best to perform the best I can. He will get from me that support that a striker needs to feel more confident.
“But, at the end of the day, it’s up to them and is their responsibility. Fernando has to cope with that.”
Torino goalkeeper Gillet and others banned over match- fixing
Torino’s Belgian goalkeeper Jean Francois Gillet was banned for three years and seven months as the Italian federation (FIGC) announced its latest batch of match-fixing related suspensions on Today.
Gillet, who has won nine caps for Belgium, was one of 20 individuals suspended in relation to two matchesinvolving Bari in Serie B in 2008 and 2009, where he was playing at the time. At 34, the decision could mean the end of his career.
Bari ensured a mid-table finish when they lost 1-0 at home to Treviso in one of their final matches of the 2007/08 season and made sure of promotion when they were beaten 3-2 at Salernitana one year later.
Former Bari and Salernitana player Massimo Gancio and former Salernitana director Cosimo D’Angelo were given the longest bans, four years each.
Former Bari player Gianluca Galasso, currently out of contract, was banned for three years and seven months while another 10 players, most of them now out of contract or retired, were suspended for three years and six months each.
A further six players were given six-match bans while the tribunal agreed plea bargains with another nine, resulting in bans ranging from just over three months to 16 months.
Two players were acquitted and Bari were docked one point for next season in a plea bargain.
Italy has been hit by a wave of match-fixing allegations with police investigating cases in Cremona, Bari and Naples.
Last year, four players were banned over suspected match-fixing involving several Bari matches in Serie A in the 2010-11 season, when they were relegated.
They included former Bari defender Andrea Masiello who was banned for 26 months for match-fixing. He scored an own goal in the 2-0 defeat by Lecce, one of the matches under investigation.
Siena, Atlanta, Sampdoria and Torino all began Serie A with points deductions last season relating to earlier match-fixing cases while Juventus coach Antonio Conte was banned for 10 months, later reduced to four, for failing to report match-fixing when he was at Siena.
Conte was in charge of Bari from 2007 to 2009 but did not face any charges relating to their two matches.
Last week, theFIGCprosecutors referred Serie A clubs Lazio and Genoa, lower-league side Lecce and eight players to its disciplinary tribunal over allegations of match-fixing in the 2010/11 season.
The matches under investigation are Lazio’s final games of the 2010-11 season when they beat Genoa 4-2 at home and Lecce by the same score away.

Osun state Governor Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola flags off N14.57b East-West by-pass
The Osun State Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, at the weekend, flagged off an 18km dual carriage way Osogbo East Bye Pass named after former governor of the defunct Western Region and late Ooni of Ife, Oba Adesoji Aderemi, at the whopping cost of N14.5 billion.
The road project would be the third of its kind flagged off by the current administration as part of effort at transforming the state.
Performing the flagging-off of the road in Osogbo, Aregbesola said that his administration is firmly set on the match at developing the state.
At the well-attended event, the governor said the major pre-occupation of his administration is the improvement of socio-economic, infrastructural development and the well-being of the people.
“This is why in the last 31months, the state government has devoted priority attention to the modernisation of road infrastructure.”
The governor noted that road infrastructure is a crucial element of development effort of his administration to take the state to an enviable height.
The road, according to him, can be referred to as circumferential highway starting from the roundabout along Iwo Road and passes through Ofatedo to Ataoja Grammar School, through Ilesa Road and terminates at Osogbo Stadium roundabout area.
The project, according to the governor, would feature construction of new culverts, three river bridges, concrete side drainage and retaining walls, pavement surface and marking, construction of railway underpass, construction of interchange and provision of street light.
According to Aregbesola, bad roads have been a major bane of development efforts in the country which also explains why the roads in the state have suffered years of neglect under the previous governments; hence his administration is investing enormous resources on roads projects in the state.
The governor observed that when considering what is lost as a result of bad road in terms of human lives and valuable material resources, it is better to imagine what the people would stand to gain if and when the roads are put in good shape.
He stated that the cost-benefit analysis has been a major driving force behind government’s commitment to modernising road network in the state.
“The depth of our commitment to road transformation is evident in the fact that our state is now a massive road construction site. We are constructing, reconstructing and rehabilitating roads all over the state.
“Our ultimate aim is to make Osun a state that will have one of the best and most modern road infrastructures in the whole of the country, Aregbesola said. While speaking on efforts of the government in rural areas where roads are being opened up, the Governor stated that the gesture is a key towards encouraging farming with a view to ensuring abundant food production and food security.
He emphasised that with greater road access, there is easy flow of input to the farms and smooth evacuation of farm produces to the markets.
NLC worries over review, hike in power tariffs
NIGERIA Labour Congress, NLC, weekend, expressed concern over incessant and exorbitant review of electricity tariff by Federal Government.
It called on the government to direct Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, NERC, to urgently review downward the entire multi- year tariff structure in the interest of Nigerians.
NLC, in a statement by its President, Abdulwahhed Omar, expressed shock that the tariff had arbitrarily been increased from N225 to over N700, even without steady power supply.
The statement read: “This review, whether done suddenly or in advance, is without justification or rationale and stand condemned as it will negate whatever gains expected to be recorded by the much vaunted reform in the power sector.
“Congress believes that the multi-year tariff structure as designed by Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, NERC, tacitly approved by government, only protects the interest of investors in the power sector.”
and has little or no consideration for consumers, most of whom are poor and incapable of paying.
“It is exploitative and saddening that these mindless reviews are not accompanied by commensurate improved services. If anything, electricity service delivery has plummeted over the years with consumers compelled to pay exorbitant tariff rates for incompetence, poor service and fraud.
“Judging from the yearly percentage increase (which covers a fifteen year period in the first instance), it is predictable that less than ten percent of the present consumers will be able to pay these outrageous tariffs in the next few years.
“The consequences of structuring electricity tariffs that are unreasonable and unaffordable have grave implications for the economy and the people. This is a sad commentary on the power reform process, as it speaks volumes about its transparency, viability and ability to deliver in the interest of the nation.”
NLC argued that a viable power sector was key to revamping and repositioning the economy, stressing that nothing should be done to undermine this objective.
It added, however, that “a reform process which does not carry along its people or protect their interest has only one direction to go – the abyss – and stands condemnable.”

Under-20 WORLD CUP FALLOUT FIFA rates Nigeria‘99 among best attended.
Fourteen years after Nigeria hosted the Under 20 World Cup,FIFA still ranksthe Nigerian edition as one of the best attended in the history of the championship. The rating is coming on the heels of poor attendance recorded in this year’s edition which ends today in Turkey.
The Nigerian edition which was won by Spain had a total attendance of 624,400 averaging 12,007 with 38,000 attending the final between Spain and Japan.
In contrast however, FIFA noted that Turkey 2013 has averaged only 5,230 spectators over 50 matches, describing it as by far the lowest figure in the 36-year history of the competition.
FIFA added that the record-low attendance at the Under-20 World Cup could hurt Turkey’s chances of hosting major tournaments, including the 2020 Olympics and the 2024 European Championship.
Chairman of the FIFA tournament organizing committee, Jim Boyce Friday, described the empty seats syndrome in the Turkey edition as “one negative point.”
Boyce added that Turkey has “proved that they can organize very smoothly from all other aspects of a major competition so I honestly hope that it does not have an adverse effect on the future. But it is still disappointing.“
Africa’s surviving flag bearers, Ghana, clinched the third position in Istanbulon Saturday after beating Iraq 3-0. Recall that Nigeria led by Coach John Obuh crashed out in the round of 16 after losing 2-1 to Uruguay.

HOW TO START A CAREER IN INFORMATION
How to Start a Career in Information Technology
Discuss
Many people love the people in IT (Information Technology).
This is a good field but it does not mean that you work with computers only. Helping others use their computers is often a big part of the job. This field is very big. From an ATM machine, to PC techies, to a network administrator to a graphic designer to a webmaster, to the record producer, these people are all in IT.
STEPS
1: Discover if you are already skilled in IT. If you have a PC and use it for more than just typing and basic office work, doing homework, playing games and casually browsing the web, then you have the right stuff for the job
2. Make a list of what types of IT work you might be interested in. For example, if you love computer games, you can list "game testing," or"writing game software." If you enjoy designing, "graphic design" or"software design" should go on your list. If you are interested in how the internet works and how computer connect to each other, "network administration or network design" will work for you.
3. Choose something that will make you happy. If you really enjoy it as a pastime, you will progress in skill much faster.
4. Get to know the right people. Many IT gurus love to assist people. Look into a formal or even casual apprenticeship. Make a geek your new best friend.
5. Search for educational opportunities in your area or online, and determine what the entry requirements are for each field of study. Make comparisons.
6. Supplement self-taught skills with a few classes or an associate degree, and move right into the job market. The more education you get in the field, the better your income will probably be in the long run, but there are entry level jobs even for people with little education.
7. Look into professional certifications. Even without a college degree an MCSE or A+ certification can gain you significant credibility.
8. Seek internships at reputable companies. An internship at Google or Microsoft will open a lot of doors for you later.
9. Write a competitive resume and list it at prominent internet job sites. Include any cities you'd be interested in moving to. .
10. Take the best entry level job you can get, and in your spare time, focus on honing your skills and on keeping up with the constantly evolving applications, hardware, and software that you'll need to utilize
TIPS: Have a strong sense of curiosity and a desire to know how things work. Be prepared for constant change and a need to steadily increase your wealth of knowledge. Bring your unlimited patience. This field can often be frustrating. These jobs have increasingly been in demand since the late 1990s. Warnings When things go wrong, the IT department are the first ones to be blamed. When things go right, IT are the last ones to get credit. Do the job because you love it. Otherwise, you'll hate it. Don't pick a job for the money. Pick it for your passion in that field. Then pick the highest paying job with the best opportunities.

How To Make Money Online With Your Blackberry
Over 60% of smartphones users in this part of the world make use of Blackberry and the device has moved from what the rich can only buy to a device for all and sundry. A research carried out in Nigeria revealed that most people use blackberry for fun than for business purposes.
I will explain how to make money on blackberry and am sure this will be useful to bloggers, publicists and webmasters.
STEP 1 - Requirement
You must have a lot of contacts on your BBM (Blackberry Messenger).
STEP 2- Money Making Messenger
For you to make money, it involves just a thing or an act which is by broadcasting someone's paid adverts to all your contacts.
STEP 3- How To Get Adverts To Broadcast on BBM
Getting adverts to broadcast is so simple, I will give you some hints.
==> You can broadcast this: "Promote your products, events, business to over 2000 BBM users in Nigeria". After that am sure some people will be interested to do business with you and bill them. I currently bill my clients N500 per broadcast.
==> Change your display name to a name that can be easily search for on BBM. If your name on bbm is full of smiley faces, signs and symbols or some funny letters then it will be difficult for people to search for you. So, it's better you change your display name to your website name or your real name without any 'swag' sign.
==> You can also get advert by replying any broadcast that includes someone's products or services.
NOTE- Do not lie about your contacts to your clients because some of them might request you screengrab your contacts list.
I hope this makes some sense.
If you have other ideas on how to earn money online with Blackberry, kindly relay them via comments.
BBM DP Not Changing? Try This Solution
I ask him to rebooted the blackberry several times, removed the battery, removed the dp and everything..but no success. I noticed that BBM status will change while my dp won't change on bbm. When I became so fed up,I decided to google the problem to see if I can get a solution.
After googling it, I saw series of forum threads related to the problem. I browsed through and saw different suggestions. While some claim it is just a temporary problem, some suggested bbm should be deleted and re-installed via www.blackberry.com/bbm instead of through the BB AppWorld.
We tried to delete the BBM and we were surprised not to see the "delete" option after right-clicking on the BBM icon nor see "Blackberry Messenger" listed under "Application Management" ( Options>Device>Application Management).
At this point, it became so obvious that his BBM is corrupt. So, I decided to upgrade the BBM via Blackberry AppWorld. I upgraded to the latest version of BBM and restarted the BB. I changed my BBM dp and it worked! Honestly, I felt so happy.
NB: You might receive some broadcasts eg "Display pictures will not change unless you broadcast this message: having the code:REP#26356". Please, ignore such silly BCs. They are crap.
Have you experienced this kind of problem before or your dp is currently not showing on your bbm?
You can learn how to upgrade all blackberry apps at once here.
